An approach to FECD

1. What is FECD?

   FECD is a platform for crowdfunding or collective financing (monetary contributions) and distributed collaboration (services, infrastructures, microtasks) for projects which, apart from giving individual rewards, also generate a collective return through fomenting the commons, open code and/or free knowledge. As a member of the network you can have one or various roles: presenting a project, cofunding or collaborating on one.

2. What is crowdfunding and how is it used here?

   Collective financing or microfinance (in English 'crowdfunding') is a form of cooperation between many people to gather a sum of money with which to support the development of a specific initiative.
   
   FECD is a digital option, based on this model, to promote projects that directly bring the promoters of the projects closer to society in general, promoting equity, empathy and responsibility in accountability. It is an alternative available to society both for project promoters, as well as for employees, volunteers, and other actors who work in social development. It is a complement to the financing derived from public administration, private companies and cooperation in general, reactivating the role of co-responsibility with civil society.
   
   It is also an opportunity for people and small organizations, mainly from rural areas and with difficulties in accessing resources, to contact directly with sponsors and receive support to give impetus to specific projects that are later sustainable and lasting over time.

3. What are the strong points and differences in the platform?

   In relation to other existing crowdfunding platforms, these are the highlights of FECD:
   
   

   • FECD works in social development: Brings together, equates and unites society : It promotes projects that contribute to social development and reduce the poverty gap, and promotes innovation, equity, empathy, listening and pausing as catalysts for a less conflictual society. It connects recipients and donors in a direct and autonomous interaction, through concrete, viable and quality projects, and a timely and responsible accountability.
     Projects that want to be co-financed with the help of FECD must allow, through licenses, the copying, public communication, distribution, modification and / or exploitation of part or all of each creation.
     FECD pursues the social profitability of investments, therefore, in addition to individual rewards, it is based on collective returns for the development of projects that promote common welfare.
     Irrigation capital funds can be managed with contributions from public and private entities, for co-responsible investment and with a multiplier effect in projects that have the support of civil society.
     
   • Collaboration and Volunteers : In FECD, in addition to monetary contributions, it is possible to collaborate through services, material resources, infrastructures or by participating as volunteers in certain micro-tasks necessary in the implementation of projects.
     
   • Two rounds of co-financing in 40 + 40 days : Two rounds of co-financing are established, of 40 days each. The first, to “all or nothing”, linked to the essential minimum budget; and the second at an optimal amount, to make further improvements.
     
   • Network of communities and local nodes : FECD is a digital tool that constitutes an option for social development. A community is built from local actors in all sectors, both in the countryside and in the city, connecting them with the world in an equitable relationship of solidarity and service. Listening and pausing are encouraged as natural processes that promote peaceful social interactions. The reduction of the digital divide is encouraged and the elimination of separation and distance between human beings is encouraged to cooperate together. We believe in local capacities and respect the particularities of different contexts.

4. Who's behind this initiative?

   FECD, a digital platform of Crowdfunding and Matchfunding, has been powered by Mobitech and is governed by transparent and responsible compliance with its mission, vision and fundamentals through the FECD , a non-profit organization that integrates different actors committed to the development of social projects, and is in charge of accompany the management processes of drivers and accountability.

5. How is FECD supported?

   FECD has an important support network, made up of various actors and in different geographical areas, who are accompanying this digital project from its first steps. Social organizations and local leaders as well as small producers, the raison d'être of this initiative, are the central protagonists, as well as sponsors, collaborators and volunteers committed to the development of society.    In different phases of interaction with the platform you may notice that we ask you to enter some of your data, sometimes personal, such as contact information, type of entity, legal form.

7. In which location do you work

   The FECD platform works locally and projects globally. This means that we walk step by step with the projects promoted by members of the rural and urban communities of each territory, for example a community, a parish, a canton, a province and the country.
   We decided to prioritize our support on small producers and rural sectors of Ecuador, then we will evaluate and look together at the possibility of expansion to other territories.
   For now, Ecuador is our priority.
